SAVE THE DATE FOR THE NEXT BRUSSELS AFROCUBAN WEEKEND! Moyubao and Camina Dance School are joining forces once again on February 8th and 9th to bring you an incredible weekend filled with singing, dancing, and live music!

This time we’ll have the privilege of having with us Mireisi Muchuli Morales. Born in Santiago de Cuba, she began her dance training at age 12 at the Jose Maria Heredia Arts School and later continued at the Samuel Feijoo professional school. In 2002, her talent led her to join Cuba’s prestigious Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba (CFNC), specializing in Cuban and Afro-Cuban folklore. She rose to the position of principal dancer and instructor, while also earning a degree from Havana’s Instituto Superior de Arte in 2010. Mireisi has represented Cuban culture globally, performing in countries like Mexico, Spain, and China.

Embodying Afrocuban Rhythms

Afrocuban Combo : we play percussion, we sing, we dance!

We will explore the richness of Afro-Cuban rhythms and chants, primarily through the Taketina Rhythm process. It is a body-centered, meditative practice that explores rhythm thorugh vocalization, clapping and stepping, fostering coordination, mindfulness and a deeper connection to rhythm, promoting personal growth and self-awareness. This practice will help our bodies feel the groove of the rich and complex afrocuban tradition. We will also delve into the chants, exploring their symbolism and meanings. The session will conclude with the formation of a small Afro-Cuban ensemble, where we will play instruments, sing, and dance together.

Please note that this experience requires a full commitment of three consecutive hours; the sessions cannot be taken separately. No prior experience is required.

RÉSERVEZ LA DATE POUR LE PROCHAIN BRUSSELS AFROCUBAN WEEKEND! Moyubao et l’école de danse Camina unissent à nouveau leurs forces les 8 et 9 février pour vous offrir un week-end incroyable rempli de chant, danse et musique live !

Cette fois, nous aurons le privilège de compter parmi nous Mireisi Muchuli Morales. Née à Santiago de Cuba, elle a commencé sa formation en danse à l’âge de 12 ans à l’école des Arts José Maria Heredia, avant de poursuivre à l’école professionnelle Samuel Feijoo. En 2002, son talent l’a conduite à intégrer le prestigieux Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba (CFNC), spécialisé dans le folklore cubain et afro-cubain. Elle y a gravi les échelons jusqu’à devenir première danseuse et professeure, tout en obtenant un diplôme de l’Institut Supérieur d’Art de La Havane en 2010. Mireisi a représenté la culture cubaine dans le monde entier, se produisant dans des pays comme le Mexique, l’Espagne et la Chine.

Afrocuban Combo : nous jouons des percussions, nous chantons, nous dansons !

Nous explorerons la richesse des rythmes et chants afro-cubains, principalement à travers le Taketina Rhythm Process, une pratique corporelle et méditative qui vous permettra d’expérimenter le rythme par le chant, les claquements de mains et le mouvement. Ce processus favorise la coordination, la pleine conscience et une connexion profonde au rythme, tout en favorisant le développement personnel. Cette pratique aidera votre corps à ressentir toute l'énergie et la complexité de la tradition afro-cubaine. Nous plongerons également dans les chants, en explorant leurs symboles et leurs significations. La session se terminera par la formation d’un petit ensemble afro-cubain où nous jouerons des instruments, chanterons et danserons ensemble.

Attention, cette expérience demande un engagement complet de trois heures consécutives, les sessions ne peuvent pas être suivies séparément. Aucune expérience préalable n’est requise.
