Description
Björn Gustaf Meyer – basse
Park Frederick Stickney – harpe
Araxi Isabel Karnusian - saxophone
Description
Born (1965) and raised in Stockholm - Sweden. Meyer has worked since 1989 as a freelance musician in a variety of musical worlds. Inspired primarily by traditional musics from around the world. He is always looking for new ways to implement new musical sounds, rhythms and various playing techniques on the bass. In his very personal way of playing and his compositions, these musical styles, traditions and sentiments connect to something unique - a concept that he calls "Trip Folk" or "Bazaar Music"
Since 1996, Björn lives in Switzerland. He is active as a musician and producer in Germany and abroad and has performed with Nik Bärtsch's RONIN, Asita Hamidi's BAZAAR, the Tunisian oud master Anouar Brahem and the Swedish trio BAZAR BLÅ. As a teacher, he conducts workshops and has also taught at the conservatories in Stockholm, Zurich and Lucerne.
Together with the harpist Asita Hamidi he headed Bazaarpool - a cosmopolitan musician network and CD label for collaboration with like-minded musicians.
Park Frederick STICKNEY
While attempting to live simultaneously on a farm in Switzerland, and in Brooklyn, New York, harpist Park Stickney is constantly in motion, giving concerts everywhere from Adelaide to Zaragoza.
Stickney has dueled (improvisationally) with pianist Jean-François Zygel, recorded with the “Crash Test Dummies” and Jonathan Coulton, performed at the White House, jammed with young oud students in the West Bank, given a sold-out solo show in Sennheiser Hall, Shanghai, played concerts in a mine in South-Tyrol, in a thermal bath in Switzerland, toured with the Fantasticks in Japan, performed in Sri Lanka, in Helsinki, Havana and Hong Kong, in Moscow, Madras, Moldavia...
Park teaches at the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon, France. He graduated from the Juilliard School and in 2021 completed a PhD exploring extreme harp pedaling at the Trinity Laban Conservatory, London.
Park is also an enthusiastic and spectacularly absent Swiss volunteer fireman.
Araxi Isabel KARNUSIAN
Born (1969) in the mountains of Switzerland with Armenian roots, she has worked as a freelance saxophonist, composer, and bandleader since 2003. Deeply influenced by jazz and traditional music from around the world, she has traveled across four continents to study indigenous sounds and refine her craft. Her projects, including Miniatur Orchester, Strange Sounds – Beautiful Music, and Sol Oriens, explore the intersections of melody, texture, and storytelling, creating a distinctive and expressive musical language.
In 2005, she received a scholarship from the Canton of Berne, allowing her to spend eight months in Paris and three months in New York, deepening her studies through masterclasses and immersive experiences. She has since performed at festivals and venues across Europe, Taiwan, America, and Brazil.
Beyond music, she studies Chinese martial arts, drawn to its fluidity, discipline, and precision—qualities that also shape her approach to performance and composition. Whether leading ensembles or working on commissioned compositions, she brings a sensitivity to sound that is both clear and expressive, always in service of the music.
