Conservative Endodontics
Everything about non-prescriptive, restoratively-driven, minimally invasive endodontics
About
Minimally-invasive endodontics started off with the idea of re-establishing Endodontics as a restorative discipline. In recent years, the term has been used at every opportunity and even reclaimed by the biggest dental companies, so much that it completely lost its meaning.
In the first part of this course, we will present the origins and the philosophy behind the conservative current in Endodontics, and critically review the literature and the perception, evaluation and impact of outcomes in our practice. We then will develop extensively the role of the CBCT in diagnosis, decision-making and treatment planning for conservative Endodontics illustrated with a number of examples.
The practical aspects will be discussed during the second part of the course. Directed dentine preservation strategies will be presented through case-based bespoke access designs and anatomy-driven shaping. We will review the role of irrigation and show different techniques of obturation for smaller shapes. The presentation will be completed with restorative tips and considerations on MIE.
Special guests Pr. Pierre Machtou and Pr. Stephane Simon will honour us with their presence and entertain a discussion on the topics adressed during the lecture afterwards.
