FRANCAIS:
Le projet (Dé)masquer les tissus africains est un projet artistique et documentaire dont l’ambition est de participer à la (re)connaissance et à la promotion des textiles africains. Envisagé sous la forme d’une exposition, quatre outils d’expression artistique sont mis à contribution : l’art du tissage, la photographie, la performance in situ et la peinture corporelle. Il s’agit pour Ariane Mawaffo et Jocelyn Kagina d’exposer la beauté et la richesse de ces textiles dans un but de vulgarisation et d’éducation sur l’authenticité et l’histoire de ces tissus peu connus du grand public. Cette exposition permettra entre autres non seulement de prendre conscience de l’existence de ces tissus, d’apprendre à les connaître, à les identifier, à les toucher, en un mot de se les approprier.

"(Un)mask African fabrics" project is an artistic and documentary project aiming to contribute to the (re)knowledge and promotion of african fabrics. Conceived as an exhibition, four tools of artistic expression are used: the art of weaving, photography, in situ performance and body painting. For Ariane Mawaffo and Jocelyn Kagina, the aim is to showcase the beauty and richness of these textiles, with a view to popularizing and educating the public about the authenticity and history of these little-known fabrics. Among other things, this exhibition will not only raise awareness of the existence of these fabrics, but will also enable visitors to get to know them, identify them, touch them - in a word, to make them their own.
