Description
The Women and Science Chair at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL is organising its 2025 scientific meeting on Women and Science: Educational and cultural issues; international comparisons.
The purpose of this conference is to present an overview of the determinants of the lower presence of women in scientific studies and careers, while highlighting the issues addressed in education (stereotypes, gender inequalities, gender bias) and on international experiences in France, Italy, Armenia, Africa, India, Norway and the USA.
The issue of women’s underrepresentation in science is more pressing today than ever, amplified by the rise of artificial intelligence, a field where women remain underrepresented. This societal challenge raises important questions about scientific and technological progress without the full participation of all members of society. It is crucial to deeply understand the causes and consequences of this reality.
The workshop will be held on 11th february 2025 at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL
The programme is packed with contributions from leading researchers of academic and non-academic institutions, focusing on the determinants, obstacles and challenges involved in getting more women into scientific studies and careers.
The Women and Science Chair at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL, in partnership with the L’Oréal Foundation, Generali France, La Poste and Amundi seeks to engage and foster interdisciplinary approaches to analyzing the causes and consequences of the underrepresentation of women in careers in scientific research and academia. The Women and Science Chair is member of the UNESCO chairs network.
