Eliane Reyes - Piano, Marc Sabbah - Violon alto
Le concert consiste en deux œuvres pour alto et piano. Samuel Zyman, compositeur mexicain, avait écrit cette sonate pour violoncelle. En rencontrant l'altiste Marc Sabbah lors de ses études à Julliard (New York City), cette sonate à était transposer pour l'alto et Marc Sabbah donnait le premier mondial sur l'alto. La sonate, en trois mouvements est un témoignage de l'influence jazz dans la musique latine américaine avec un rythme presque fatal accompagné d'une lyricisme presque de l'époque romantique. La sonate met les deux artistes en valeur et est une véritable merveille à écouter.
Nous entendons l'influence russe dans la sonate du compositeur Belge, Henri Vieuxtemps. Rempli de nostalgie slave et de tendre furie, Vieuxtemps nous gâte avec une des œuvres les plus célèbres pour alto et piano. L'introduction (un Maestoso) contient une noblesse et douceur qui se couple parfaitement avec un développement agité et virtuose. Le sonate, en trois mouvements, s'agit presque comme une autobiographie du célèbre violoniste et compositeur. Le deuxième mouvement, titré Barcarola, est certainement un hommage à ces nombreux voyages sur les bateaux vers Les Etats Unis, Angleterre et d'autres pays. Un véritable voyage musical.

Het concert bestaat uit twee werken voor altviool en piano. De Mexicaanse componist Samuel Zyman schreef deze sonate oorspronkelijk voor cello. Toen hij tijdens zijn studie aan Julliard (New York City) altviolist Marc Sabbah ontmoette, werd deze sonate getransponeerd voor altviool en gaf Marc Sabbah de wereldpremière op altviool. De sonate, in drie delen, getuigt van de invloed van jazz op de Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek, met een bijna fatalistisch ritme en een lyriek die bijna uit de romantische periode lijkt te komen. De sonate laat beide artiesten goed tot hun recht komen en is een waar genot om naar te luisteren.
We horen de Russische invloed in de sonate van de Belgische componist Henri Vieuxtemps. Vol Slavische nostalgie en tedere woede verwent Vieuxtemps ons met een van de beroemdste werken voor altviool en piano. De inleiding (een Maestoso) bevat een noblesse en zachtheid die perfect samengaan met een onrustige en virtuoze ontwikkeling. De sonate, in drie delen, is bijna een autobiografie van de beroemde violist en componist. Het tweede deel, getiteld Barcarola, is zeker een eerbetoon aan zijn vele reizen per boot naar de Verenigde Staten, Engeland en andere landen. Een ware muzikale reis.

The concert consists of two works for viola and piano. Samuel Zyman, a Mexican composer, wrote this sonata for cello. When he met violist Marc Sabbah while studying at Julliard (New York City), the sonata was transposed for viola and Marc Sabbah gave the world premiere on viola. The sonata, in three movements, is a testament to the influence of jazz on Latin American music, with an almost fatalistic rhythm accompanied by a lyricism reminiscent of the Romantic era. The sonata showcases both artists and is a true delight to listen to.
