IMAGINE THE MUSEUM OF TOMORROW: DEFINING VALUES, DESIGNING EXPERIENCES
During the Expo 2020 Dubai and as part of the Creative Fortnight organized by the French Pavilion, France Muséums sets up Les Rencontres, a day of discussion dedicated to the 'Museum of Tomorrow'. This day aims to consider the future of museums, the values they defend and their roles facing the major challenges of the 21st century and those to come.
The day begins with a collaborative masterclass in partnership with Chargeurs Museum Solutions, from 9am to 12pm. The masterclass provides participants with the opportunity to learn from case studies presented by internationally renowned experts, with whom they will be able to exchange views. The purpose of this experience-sharing session is to provide a platform for innovative ideas to emerge and new perspectives to be explored, which will later contribute to shaping the museum of the future.
The symposium is the highlight of the day, from 2PM to 6PM, bringing together influential international figures and experts, to offer a unique opportunity to discover innovative visions and pioneer projects. The first roundtable is dedicated to the challenges of sustainability for museums, while the second roundtable focuses on inclusivity, visitor experience and the role museums play in tackling societal issues. Laurence des Cars, President and Director of the musée du Louvre, and HE Mohamed Khalifa al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi will introduce these two roundtables. The Symposium is followed by a cocktail from 6PM to 8PM - an occasion of more festive discussions between professionnals.
