About

Museum and culture professionals, disability and inclusion specialists, students, passionate about culture and inclusion: these days are for you!

We invite you to join us, on December 9 and 10, 2025, for two days focused on the topic of Universal Accessibility in Museums in France and North America, at the Musée des beaux-arts in Rennes, France.

The event is based on the program L’Art et la matière. Prière de toucher! [Art and Matter. Please Do Touch!], a tactile exhibition, which circulated in France for 8 years. Testimonials, panel discussions and diverse experiences from the field will be shared to show how impactful the program was as well as the questions that it brought up.

The study days offer an opportunity to establish a dialogue between France, Quebec and the United States, and to share ideas on universal accessibility in museums. The goal is to broaden perspectives and better consider the place of visitors with disabilities, while reflecting on the diversity of audiences within museums.

This event is co-organized by the FRench American Museum Exchange (FRAME) network and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes, with the generous support of the French Ministry of Culture (Direction générale de la démocratie culturelle, des enseignements et de la recherche) and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (Institut français).

The auditorium of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes can accommodate up to 80 participants. To enable everyone to attend, the event will also be live stream via a digital link. You therefore have the option of registering either on-site or remotely. For the on-site option, we ask you to respect the limit of one registration per institution in order to leave rooms for everyone.
