Kabunga est un projet de l'artiste malien Zonatan Dembele, bassiste pour divers artistes de renommée internationale dont Rokia Traoré et Ben Zabo. Depuis 2015, il joue avec Kabunga dans des bars à musique, des centres culturels et des festivals au Mali et en Belgique, en s'entourant de musiciens professionnels du monde entier. L'année dernière, Kabunga a assuré la première partie d'Amadou & Mariam au VierNulVier à Gand et s'est produit avec Roland Van Campenhout et Steven De Bruyn.
Kabunga vous plonge dans l'ancienne tradition musicale du peuple Bwa qui vit au Mali et au Burkina Faso. Les sources d'inspiration sont les rythmes traditionnels Deni joués à la fin de la saison des récoltes, lorsque les gens se réunissent pour se détendre, chanter et danser. Kabunga mélange l'authentique musique Bwa avec d'autres rythmes africains, du jazz et du blues pour créer un son tradi-moderne intéressant.
La musique de Kabunga groove comme l'afrobeat de Fela Kuti. Les tambours an'an et dumanu, utilisés à l'origine, sont au cœur du son, complétés par des instruments maliens et occidentaux - ngoni, tama, balafon, batterie, basse, guitare et saxophone. Fidèle à la tradition Bwa, le répertoire de Kabunga est une célébration vibrante de la vie, qui alterne des airs entraînants et rapides avec des chansons plus calmes et plus discrètes.

Last year Kabunga was the support act of Amadou & Mariam at VierNulVier in Ghent and performed with Roland Van Campenhout and Steven De bruyn.
Kabunga submerges you in the ancient musical tradition of the Bwa people living in Mali and Burkina Faso. Source of inspiration are the traditional Deni rhythms played at the end of the harvest season when people come together to relax, sing and dance. Kabunga blends the authentic Bwa music with other African rhythms, jazz and blues into a interesting tradi-modern sound.
Kabunga’s music grooves like Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat. Core of the sound are the originally used an’an and dumanu drums, completed with Malian and Western instruments - ngoni, tama, balafon, drums, bass, guitar and sax. True to the Bwa tradition, Kabunga’s repertoire is a vibrant celebration of life, that alternates up-tempo catchy tunes with more quiet, subdued songs.
