How to Do a Law Assignment Referencing in APA Format? A Guide with Examples!

Also, when the law is codified across the non-consecutive sections of the code, it is only cited when its location is large. In the referencing, write the act name with the year, public law number with abbreviations and state number, and the year in the bracket.

Citing State Laws
The law of different and individual states are cited in the same format as federal law. However, some of the state codes use chapter numbers instead of the section number. While doing referencing, you have to write the act name, code, and chapter numbers with the symbol §.
