Lost in Frenchlation x Women of Paris Tour: Montmartre
Description
On intl women's day eve, join your guide Heidi from Women of Paris, for this experience where you'll be taken on a 2 hour walk into the most iconic neighborhood of Paris, followed by drinks and a screening of "Le Système Victoria" with English subtitles, in the presence of the director.
Arguably the city's most charming neighbourhood today, this formerly rural hillside was once the haunt of the avant-garde. Modernist artists Picasso, Van Gogh, Matisse and Toulouse Lautrec all spent time living in what was then the rough side of town, which nevertheless offered a Parisian Playground; famous for its alluring cabarets, brothels and cheap wine.
On this tour we'll explore both the history of the neighbourhood; how it transformed from a rural shantytown into one of the city's most desirable quarters today, and the artists and revolutionaries who lived here. We'll pay particular attention to the women we find in their artworks; revealing their fascinating stories, as well as some of the women working behind the scenes to bring us some of the greatest works of art of the last century. Along the way we'll also make a stop to try a tasty middle-eastern inspired treat from a modern and woman-owned pâtisserie. Tastings are at the guests' own expenses.
Please note that the tickets for the movie ARE NOT INCLUDED in the tickets for the tour, and must be purchased separately.
Looking forward to meeting you there!
Women of Paris The first Paris walking tour devoted entirely to women's history and influence.
Lost in Frenchlation's mission is simple – we want to bring world-renown French cinema to the international community in Paris by showing French films with English subtitles, and we want to be a hub for the international community to get to know each other as well as native Parisians.
