Evaluation of the Mental Health Foundation's 32-hour Week
About
For this European Work-Time Network's webinar, we are joined by Catherine Negus, Research Manager at the Mental Health Foundation to discuss their 32-hour working week pilot.
The Mental Health Foundation piloted a 32-hour working week. Catherine will focus on the impacts their pilot had on the wellbeing and mental health of their employees, as well as the organisation's productivity. The pilot ran for a full year, from April 2024 to April 2025, with all the charity’s staff working a 32-hour week (or proportionate reduction for part-time staff) with no loss of pay. Unlike some four-day week models, the Foundation’s approach offered flexibility with staff choosing how to structure their 32 hours.
Catherine Negus has a background in history, international development, voluntary sector campaigning, and patient voice. She is a researcher with the Mental Health Foundation (MHF) in the UK, an organisation committed to the prevention of poor mental health, particularly via attention to social determinants. Current areas of focus include workplace wellbeing and technology. Catherine led the evaluation of MHF's 2024/25 32-hour week pilot, which led to a permanent 32-hour week for the organisation.
The event will be hosted online at 1pm Brussels time on Wednesday 29th April. Our speaker will deliver a short presentation on the subject, followed by an audience Q&A.
Catherine Negus is the Research Manager of the Mental Health Foundation, a UK-based charity dedicated to promoting good mental health and addressing mental health issues.
