PORTIMAO Modernist architecture walking tour

We're thrilled to present the First Modernist Architecture walking tour in Portimao, a city famous for its Modernist heritage.

This tour is dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of mid-century buildings in the city center. In collaboration with architect Luisa Castro, daughter of Modernist architect Antonio Vicente Castro who made around a hundred of Modernist builings in the Algarve, especially in Portimao.
António Vicente Castro (1920-2002) left a legacy of reference for the history of architecture in the Algarve. 

The walking tour features buildings and houses of interest primarily date back to the 1950s and 1970s.

Sarturday 23th March From 2PM to 5PM.

From 2pm to 4pm : Walking tour

Please note the tour will be 2H walk. Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes, bring a hat, and carry water for an enjoyable experience. Additionally, the tour will be conducted in English.

From 4pm to 5pm : Art Gallery Networking & Drinks at Galeria Meinke Flessman

Conclude the afternoon with an hour of networking and relaxation at Galeria Meinke Flessman. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow architecture enthusiasts over drinks in a vibrant art setting.

Additional Information:

• The walking tour will conclude at the art gallery, which is a 20-25 minute walk from the starting point. 

• For those driving, we recommend parking near Estadio Municipal de Futebol Portimonense S.C., conveniently located halfway between the tour's starting point and the gallery.
