CEECD Workshops
Preventing Disruptive Behaviours in the Early Years
Online training
About
CEECD workshops are interactive online training sessions on various topics related to child development.
Offered in collaboration with Red River College Polytechnic’s Science of Early Child Development, the CEECD workshops offer flexible, accessible and convenient professional development while promoting [online] interaction with other early childhood educators.
These asynchronous workshops combine self-study components with online discussions where participants deepen their understanding and reflect on how to apply the new information in their work.
Workshop Background
Based on the results of longitudinal studies on the development of children's socialization conducted in several countries, this workshop draws on existing knowledge from various disciplines and on several training tools and resources.
Built as twelve hours of PD, the Preventing Disruptive Behaviours in the Early Years workshop will bring knowledge about types of disruptive behaviours, the emergence and prevention of these behaviours, how to manage them, and the role of adults and the learning environment in promoting optimal socialization in the early years.
More specifically, the workshop is divided into five modules:
- Disruptive Behaviors in Young Children
- Normal evolution and warning signs
- Learning peaceful strategies
- The importance of positive relationships
- The importance of quality educational environments
This workshop offers participants the opportunity to watch videos of children in natural settings, to hear from experts discussing the topics, to do short readings, and to experience the interactive review games. Guided by the facilitator, participants will have the opportunity to discuss with each other in discussion forums, to learn from and reflect on each other's ideas and to apply what they have learned, all this at their own pace and at a time that is convenient to them.
Although some weekly tasks are to be planned, there are no live classes or at fixed times. Participants are free to connect wherever and whenever they want. As in face-to-face training, the more participants are active, by reading, watching, and discussing, the richer their learning will be.
N.B. It is recommended to have access to a reliable Internet connection to follow these workshops.
