Description
Salomão Soares trio: Salomão Soares – piano, Paulinho Vicente – drums, Felipe Brisola – double bass
The album Espiras features original compositions by Salomão, filled with Brazilian influences, improvisation, and interaction among the musicians. The tracks draw inspiration from different sources: Luzes do Carmo, dedicated to Egberto Gismonti; Dalí, in homage to Spanish artist Salvador Dalí; and Espiras, the title track, inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Other pieces include Teleférico, written during a trip to La Paz, as well as Meditação, Flutuar, Sonhos de Criança, Irôko, Vôo pra Minas and Tem Café no Bule.
For the pianist, the classic jazz trio format — piano, bass, and drums— provides room for creative freedom and musical dialogue. “In this project, composed entirely of originals,
I wanted to keep the pre- arrangements to a minimum so that each musician could freely express themselves and bring their own identity into the compositions,” explains Salomão.
This European tour marks a special moment in the trio’s career, bringing to international audiences the creative strength of one of the most expressive pianists of the new Brazilian jazz scene.
