Haydn Trio in E minor Hob.XV:12
Judith Weir. O Viridissima
Shostakovich Trio no 2, op 67
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Dvorak Trio no 3 in F minor op 65
4 different trios from 4 different centuries: more, if you count the plainsong of Hildegard of Bingen, the inspiration behind Judith Weir’s poignant O Viridissima.
Haydn’s elegance and wit contrast with Dvorak's full blown Romantic passion, while Shostakovich’s Trio speaks to us from the dark days of the Second World War.
