Trio Memento

Pour ce concert, le Trio Memento s’est inspiré du chef-d’œuvre littéraire de Jules Verne, Le tour du monde en 80 jours. Dans cette œuvre, le personnage principal Phileas Fogg, un gentleman anglais, parie avec les membres de son club qu’il fera le tour de la terre en 80 jours. Il utilise pour ce faire tous les moyens de transport, paquebots, railways, voitures, yachts, bâtiments de commerce, traîneaux, éléphant. Phileas Fogg accompli le voyage en un temps record, gagnant ainsi son pari. Voici le défi que le Trio Memento se lance à l’aide de ses instruments : visiter pendant la durée d’un concert les lieux les plus mythiques à travers le répertoire musical du 20e siècle. Notre voyage commence en Belgique, passe par l’Espagne, la République tchèque, puis nous nous rendons en Chine et en Corée. Puis nous nous dirigeons vers l’Amérique du Nord et l’Amérique latine, et enfin nous faisons un dernier arrêt en Irlande avant de retourner en Belgique. Faites vos valises, nous partons !

Voor dit concert liet het Memento Trio zich inspireren door Jules Verne's literaire meesterwerk Around the World in 80 Days. In dit werk wedt de hoofdpersoon Phileas Fogg, een Engelse gentleman, met de leden van zijn club dat hij in 80 dagen de aarde zal omzeilen. Hiervoor gebruikt hij alle middelen van vervoer, lijnboten, spoorwegen, auto's, jachten, koopvaardijschepen, sleeën en olifanten. Phileas Fogg voltooit de reis in een recordtijd en wint zo zijn weddenschap. Dit is de uitdaging die het Memento Trio zich met zijn instrumenten heeft gesteld: tijdens een concert de meest mythische plaatsen bezoeken via het muzikale repertoire van de 20e eeuw. Onze reis begint in België, gaat door Spanje, Tsjechië, dan naar China en Korea. Dan gaan we naar Noord- en Latijns-Amerika, en tenslotte maken we een laatste stop in Ierland alvorens terug te keren naar België. Pak je koffers, we gaan!

For this concert, the Memento Trio was inspired by Jules Verne's literary masterpiece, Around the World in 80 Days. In this work, the main character Phileas Fogg, an English gentleman, bets with the members of his club that he will circumnavigate the earth in 80 days. To do this, he uses all means of transport, liners, railways, cars, yachts, merchant ships, sledges and elephants. Phileas Fogg completed the journey in record time, thus winning his bet. This is the challenge that the Memento Trio has set itself with its instruments: to visit the most mythical places through the musical repertoire of the 20th century during the course of a concert. Our journey starts in Belgium, passes through Spain, the Czech Republic, then we go to China and Korea. Then we head to North and Latin America, and finally we make a last stop in Ireland before returning to Belgium. Pack your bags, we're off!
