Beyond Appearances: Women’s Mental Health in Monaco
An evening with psychologist Suzanne Chrimes, founder of YANA association [You Are Not Alone]
“You live in Monaco. What could possibly be wrong?”
For a woman experiencing depression, psychological abuse, or emotional distress, that assumption can make speaking up even harder. When life looks good from the outside, how do you tell someone that you’re struggling?
On Thursday, December 3, Monaco Women Network invites you to an open conversation with Suzanne Chrimes, a clinical psychologist specializing in psychological trauma and founder of the newly launched Monaco association YANA (You Are Not Alone).
This evening will explore women’s mental health beyond appearances: the suffering that can remain hidden, the shame that keeps women silent, and the pressure to carry on as though everything is fine. It is an opportunity to better understand these experiences, and how we can respond with greater awareness and compassion.
Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, Suzanne will discuss challenges she regularly encounters in her work, without sharing individual cases, and offer practical guidance on seeking support and being there for someone who is struggling. We’ll also discuss why mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical health.
Suzanne will introduce YANA and its mission to support women facing psychological distress, difficult life circumstances, and isolation, including those affected by emotional or physical abuse. Through free, small-group discussions led by a clinical psychologist, the association offers women a space to be heard without judgment, make sense of their experiences, and begin to rebuild confidence.
This event is a talk about women's mental health in general and introduction to YANA’s mission. Whether you are personally affected, concerned about someone close to you, or want to better understand and support the association’s mission, you are welcome. There is no expectation to share personal experiences.
Because appearances should never determine whose suffering we take seriously.
