Did you choose to come to Luxembourg for love or money?

Were you a third culture child (growing up in a culture different from your parents’ culture), or are your children third culture kids?

Whether living in Luxembourg is your first experience or your Nth experience of living away from the country of your birth, you will be well aware of the rewards, the upsides and risks of living in another country. Not only does living here change you, but the country where almost half the residents are from 179 countries also changes because of your presence.

Amita will present the workshop she developed for her Anglia Ruskin MAPP (Masters in Applied Positive Psychology), with the aim of building bridges in Luxembourg, using applied positive psychology interventions to enhance trailing spouses' well-being in a multi-cultural environment.

As well as presenting the theoretical basis for the workshop design and the reasons for choosing particular interventions, we will do short exercises to share our experiences and insights into how to live well in a fluid culture where our understanding and assumptions are ever-changing and not necessarily shared by the people we interact with every day.

Before you come, you may consider the below reflection points as a starting point for what will hopefully be a useful discussion:

1. How did you feel when you first came to Luxembourg, and how did that change over time ?

2. What support did you have from your employer / partner’s employer to help you settle in?

3. Have you found your tribe here, and how do you feel about the people you left behind when you came to Luxembourg?
