The Mineralogy Museum of the Paris School of Mines
For over 200 years, preserved in the historic Hôtel de Vendôme, the mineralogical collections of the Paris School of Mines are among some of the most spectacular and diverse in the world. With 5,000 pieces on display from the 100,000 specimens that make up the collections, minerals, rocks, gemstones and meteorites are displayed in a gallery measuring more than 80 meters and represent a historical piece of scientific heritage.
Temporary exhibition "Codex on the rocks"
Bringing together the wild and ephemeral spirit of urban art, the vandalistic fantasies of an unconventional artist, the timeless beauty of the mineral world, and the international fame of a prestigious institution? This is the astonishing challenge of this new exhibition by street artist Codex Urbanus at the esteemed Paris School of Mines (Mines Paris – PSL), offering a dazzling cocktail whose two main ingredients are an exceptional collection of thousands of minerals and a few spray cans, all mixed together artistically and presented in a splendid Victorian setting. Come lose yourself among the display cases, discover a parallel exhibition route, and be surprised by this unexpected encounter between art, fantasy, and the mineral world. The exhibition "Codex on the Rocks" is open to the public until June 27, 2026.
During the Night of Museums, the artist Codex Urbanus will be present. The exhibition catalogue and exhibition-exclusive tote bags will be available for purchase during the event.
