MAJAZZ PROJECT X CHULLU - PALESTINIAN SOUND ARCHIVE

Chullu è un’agenzia di booking, produzione e progetti musicali attiva dal 2021. 

Fondata da Paolo Cerruto, Carmelo Milea e Clara Sistili, si concentra sulla promozione e circuitazione di progetti musicali tangenti alle sonorità del sud del mondo, ed è basata tra Milano e Modica. Il focus di ricerca sono le sonorità del bacino del Mediterraneo (come luogo esteso di incontro tra culture) tra tradizione e contemporaneità. Negli anni hanno portato artisti oltre che dal sud Italia, dalla Palestina, Tunisia, Marocco, Senegal e Congo.

Per il festival Between Land and Sea sono lieti di presentare il progetto Palestinian Sound Archive, con cui collaborano da anni.

Palestinian Sound Archive, fondato da Mo’min Swaitat, attore formatosi presso il Freedom Theatre di Jenin e musicista, è un’etichetta discografica e un progetto di ricerca e archivio sonoro digitale di musica tradizionale che ha l’obbiettivo di far conoscere in tutto il mondo il patrimonio musicale palestinese. L’obiettivo è quello di mettere in contatto le band palestinesi degli anni Sessanta, Settanta e Ottanta con un nuovo pubblico e rendere la loro musica disponibile attraverso piattaforme streaming sia in forma originale che reinterpretata e remixata da DJ, artisti e musicisti contemporanei.

Chullu is a booking, production, and music project agency active since 2021.
Founded by Paolo Cerruto, Carmelo Milea, and Clara Sistili, it focuses on promoting and circulating musical projects that resonate with the sounds of the Global South. Based between Milan and Modica, the agency’s research centers on the sonic landscape of the Mediterranean basin, an extended meeting ground between cultures, bridging tradition and contemporaneity. Over the years, Chullu has collaborated with artists from southern Italy, Palestine, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, and the Congo.

For the Between Land and Sea festival, they are pleased to present the Palestinian Sound Archive, a long-standing collaborative project.

The Palestinian Sound Archive, founded by Mo’min Swaitat, an actor trained at the Freedom Theatre in Jenin and a musician, is both a record label and a digital sound archive dedicated to traditional Palestinian music. Its mission is to share Palestinian musical heritage with audiences around the world, reconnecting bands from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s with a new generation of listeners. The archive makes their music available through streaming platforms, both in its original form and in reinterpretations or remixes by contemporary DJs, artists, and musicians.
